Our Mission:
The Hero Foundry is a Non Profit Organization that is dedicated to inspiring the youth of today to become the heroes of tomorrow. Our goal is to provide comic books, graphic novels and similar literature to children through libraries, schools, hospitals, and other organizations that lack the financial resources to supply these materials. Why comics? To increase literacy, inspire creativity, and most importantly, to provide positive role models and moral guidance to today’s youth.
Upcoming Events:
Marvel Comics artist Humberto Ramos (X-men and the upcoming Runaways), Artist Katie Cook (Topps and Upperdeck Star Wars Marvel Tradding Cards) along with Stumblebum Studios and D Magazine Comic Book Artist Paul Milligan will be joining The Hero Foundry at booth 1418.
Humberto Ramos, Katie Cook, and Paul Milligan will be sketching and signing at various different times at The Hero Foundry Booth. In addition there will also be three drawings a day with prizes including artwork, graphic novels, and statues. In honor of our first appearance at Wizard World Chicago, The Hero Foundry will have I ♥ Comics t-shirts available at their booth. Each shirt is a $15 donation with all proceeds helping The Hero Foundry provide comic books and graphic novels to libraries, schools, and hospitals in order to increase literacy, inspire creativity, and to provide positive role models and moral guidance to today’s youth."I am very excited that Humberto will be helping The Foundry, his work on X-men with Mike Carey during the Messiah Complex was brilliant." Edward Priddy, Vice President, adding "As for Katie and Paul when you see the amazing brand of art they create you will love their work as much as we do." The Hero Foundry will also be holding three drawings a day with all the money raised helping to put comic books into schools, libraries, and hospitals that cannot afford them. These drawings will include statues, original comic book artwork, graphic novels and more. All of these items were donated especially for this event. "The Hero Foundry couldn't continue its mission without the support from our local comic book stores and the astonishing amount of incredible items they donate to our cause," exclaimed Lance Shankles, The Hero Foundry Treasurer. Numerous stores were incredibly generous donating hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise for these drawings. Tickets for the drawing as well as The Hero Foundry Buttons and Grab Bags will be a $1.00 donation each. Come out to Wizard World Chicago on the 27th-29th and join us at booth 1418 to help out a great cause by getting a sketch from one of the great artists, buying some raffle tickets to win some cool swag, or cool button or shirt.
Announcement:
The Hero Foundry is proud to annouce that it has given its first endowment to a school. We were contacted by Greg Streuly a teacher in Wales Wisconsin who had found The Foundry on MySpace. Greg wanted to use more comics to teach and encourge his students and with his help The Hero Foundry was able to make an endowment of over 100 graphic novels and trade paperbacks to the Kettle Maraine High School. Thank you everyone who continues to make endowments like this possible because we can all agree the future needs heroes now.
